Barbecue Sauce

2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 cup finely chopped onions
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
1 tablespoon firmly packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 cup dry white wine
1 bay leaf
dash hot pepper sauce


Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium high heat. Add onion and cook until translucent.
Stir in garlic and cook 1 minute more. Add remaining ingredients, reduce heat and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.
