1 1/2 pounds red snapper fillets
1/2 tablespoon olive oil
1 1/2 cups
chopped onions
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup coarsely chopped green bell peppers
32
ounces chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup dry red wine
2 ounces clam juice
2 bay leaves

tablespoon basil
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons chopped
fresh parsley
dash hot pepper sauce
1/2 pound shrimp, medium, peeled and deveined
1/2
teaspoon salt
1/4 cup lemon juice
Rinse fish and pat dry. Cut into 2-inch
cubes and set aside.
In a heavy stockpot, heat oil and add onion, garlic and
bell pepper. Sauté' about 5 minutes.
Add tomatoes, wine, clam juice, bay leaves,
basil, black pepper, parsley and hot pepper sauce.
Simmer 15 minutes. Add fish
and cook gently 25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add shrimp and cook 8 minutes,
stirring occasionally.
Season with salt and lemon juice. Service in warmed soup
bowls.
