2 cups pearl onions
1 1/2 teaspoons margarine
1 1/2 tablespoons flour
3/4
cup skim milk
freshly ground black pepper
dash nutmeg, (optional)
If raw onions are used, parboil them until tender. Meanwhile, make a white sauce;
melt margarine in a saucepan blend in flour and add milk gradually. Cook over low
heat, stirring constantly, until mixture has thickened.
Drain onions and add to
cream sauce. Season to taste.
